Poem: The same thing again

The same thing again

Oh, yes, of course I recognize
how different
it has become,
that you did not expect
any of what has unfolded,
but does that mean
you are not obligated?
You know what was said
and it matters,
I am still here
living with
your choices,
but you will do
whatever you wish
in spite of what
you have said.
It is the same, I think,
as how this all started,
and somehow
I am still hurt by it,
I am still not
smart enough
to have been prepared.
