Poem: It is a responsibility

It is a responsibility

I do not know
what to say
when the time comes,
but I will have to be ready.
I have much to do
and those things
are difficult,
but I will
as best I can
or will learn
to make due
and pretend.
I know the risk
and the cost
and the job
I was given
and accepted.
I am not ready
and don't know
if I can be
or want to be
or if I made a mistake,
but I must make certain
you never think
that you did.
