Poem: I do not think the moon

I do not think the moon

is where it should be
tonight.  It
is hanging
low and off
to one side,
and the shape
is strange,
not crescent
or round
or something

between, but
I think
it has distorted,
as though
squished one direction
and stretched
in another.

It must be
my eyes
not seeing
what is there.
Maybe that
is not it.
Maybe it is
something
in my heart
instead.
