Poem: Yes, probably you are right and I should

Yes, probably you are right and I should

but I am not and won't, so that is that,
even though I do understand,
and it matters to me, yes,
the ending, at least, though
I don't think it matters for me
what the specifics are
accept in the way
that impacts the rest,
in the way it unfolds.
I should, though, be
more present, I guess,
or willing to be a witness
in those moments.
I don't think
it is anything
I would be prepared for,
or good at.  No, 
that is only an excuse
because I know
it will be unpleasant.
