Poem: There is a disaster

There is a disaster

or maybe that is too much,
the word is too strong
for what happened.
I wasn't there,
I only heard.
Things get
exaggerated,
don't they,
at least they can.
But I heard
it was bad,
it was a disaster,
or maybe
that is my word.
I don't know
that it was used,
not quite.
Emergency?
That might be right,
or else
it was just
a description
of the damage
and the response,
and questions
of what is next,
and if the plans
must be changed.
