Poem: Do not tell me you are helping

Do not tell me you are helping

You may believe that
but it is not the truth.
It was always clear
what was required,
what help would mean.
You might be trying
but nothing has changed.
I want to have faith it will,
but I need evidence
of progress, and not
in those other terms.
I need you to show me
that you can achieve results
that matter to me.
You knew those criteria
from the very start,
it can only be measured
against that standard.
