Poem: You will tell everyone that story

You will tell everyone that story

as if it is the truth of what happened,
as if it is just the way of things
and not a version.  It is the story
and it happened that way.
It is how you will tell them
and it will become what they believe.
Even worse, it will become the thing
you are certain is the truth.
You will leave no room
for understanding or consideration.
No other experience of these things
is worth consideration any longer.
