Poem: It Is Not Clear What Was Different

It Is Not Clear What Was Different

if there was a difference at all
besides the ones that were obvious
in the outcome itself.  It may be
it was all the same, or equivalent,
not the same but still identical
in the specifics dimensions,
in terms of impact, perhaps?
No, that is not the way to think of it
as the impact is what changed.
It seemed to come at random, though,
was not a result that could be expected
or determined.  It did not work that way.
It would be good to know how it was done,
how it came to be this way in this case,
but it may be something unknowable,
and even if it were determined,
what if it is still impossible,
a result of circumstances
in the world, circumstances
that cannot be controlled
and certainly not from here.
