Poem: I Have to Refuse

I Have to Refuse

It will take one of us,
or, I think, both,
really.  I think
it will require
both of us,
each day,
both of us
focusing on this,
making certain
of what is happening,
It will require it,
and it will need
more than this,
will need more
of everything,
in time, in money,
too.  It will cost.
It will be more
than we want it to be.
I do not imagine
it will be worth
what is needed,
and I am not willing
to do all of that,
to have that be
what we do.
Only, I know
there is not
another choice
that we can make.
It is the only way.
We must do it.
