Poem: I Wish It Were The Other Way

I Wish It Were The Other Way

but I know, I am not a fool,
it would be the same
if the decision were the opposite,
if it were what I now say I want
I would be just as unhappy.
It is not the choice itself
it is surrounding conditions.
It would do nothing
to change these details,
but I still regret choosing this
as much as if it mattered.
