Poem: What Will You Do, Now?

What Will You Do, Now?

I have asked for help

and I should be glad
to hear you offer,
to hear you say
you wish to aid me,

but I do not know
what help to ask for
from you.  I do not know.
I know my needs, but
how can you help with them.

In truth, I can think of things
I wish you would make better,
things done long ago, promises
you broke once.
I still hurt.

But I know: it is too late
for those things to change,
for that to be made better,
but what I want is for you
to heal wounds you inflicted.
