Poem: We Must Get It

We Must Get It

Tomorrow, we go
to meet the bird
that will be with us,

will learn of it,
see if it flies
or sings,

will wake
and go to it,
to the bird,

it is there,
has flown down
to wait for dawn,

to wait for us
to come.  It is
not at all

a bird in the way
you think
of a bird,

but it will be one
when we arrive,
will be one for us.
