Poem: This Way Is Best for Me

This Way Is Best for Me

I am told other ways
are easier, but
the people who tell me
have different ideas
of what is easy,
do not recognize
where the problems lie
for me, assume
I am the same,
could not be choosing
what is best, are certain
they know better
my own experience,
that it cannot be
what they suggest
is not simple for me,
no, it must be
I am making it up
or just stubborn:
it cannot be
that I know
what is true
in my life
better than they do;
not if it is different
from what they know.
