Poem: Necessary Action

Necessary Action

We spend time
doing what is right
though it is not
what we want to do,
but we do it
because we must:
there is no choice,
not now, but
we will do
anything to stop,
though it will mean
all we have done
was only a gesture,
will have no lasting impact,
because we only did
as much as we had to
to say we acted,
we did not want
to do even that much.
