Poem: It Is Embarassing for Me

It Is Embarassing for Me

standing here waiting
for a different chair,
it is how I feel,
it does not matter
that you think
no one cares
why I want
or might need
a different seat,
perhaps you are right
that no one
is thinking
that I am too fat
for that chair,
but I feel
obvious, on display,
even if irrational,
it is how I feel.
The embarrassment
is enough without
needing to justify
my feeling.
