Poem: Honest to A Fault

Honest to A Fault

I would like to tell you
it was a pleasure, but
I do not lie, it would
be wrong to lie, no,
I cannot tell you
anything but the truth,
though I know you
care and will be hurt
and it is not your fault
that I did not enjoy this.
It makes me feel terrible
to say it was no pleasure
at all, but I am committed
to the truth, even
when telling it pains me,
knowing it will cause you pain,
pains me, but
it is a sacrifice
I am willing to make.
