Poem: My Lesson

My Lesson

No, that is not how
I learned the lesson
though it still hurt,
still hurts now, it was
not that way, it was
another way, but I will
never say how to you,
you will think it silly,
will call me crazy,
you will think it belittles
other experiences, or call me
mad, say I am not right
for how it has affected
me, but this is how it is,
it does not matter,
we all must learn,
it does not matter how small
my teacher was besides your own.
