Poem: Let's return to what it was like when things were better

Let's return to what it was like when things were better

It would be best
to go back
to something
that was, or maybe
to the idea of what
it was, the way
it is remembered,
which is not the same
as what it was,
but who can be honest
about that, anyhow,
what with the only way
to know being
the memories
that say it is
a way it was not,
so why not
accept that?
Not that it helps,
even if it were
once so much better
that is long ago
and everything
is different.
Yes, if anything
is to be blamed
let's just say
it is time's arrow.
