Poem: Ready to arrive

Ready to arrive

You suggest enjoying the journey
but my feet are sore
and it is too hot
and I had expected to arrive
long before this.
I am thirsty and tired
and I do not want to stop again
at another random place.
I want to arrive
at the destination.
I do not want to travel more,
do not want to settle
for whatever other locale
we happen to have reached.
It may be that cannot happen.
I wish that what is required
could alter to match that reality.
