Poem: Reaching Out

Reaching Out

It cannot be
only my effort,
only my hand
reaching out.
You too
need to reach,
or, at the least,
must grasp and hold
what reaches you.
I want
to reconnect.
We have slipped
apart.
I am reaching.
I am.  This
is how far
I can reach.
Are you there?
Will you meet me
or at least
take hold
of what is before you?
