A Writer's Notebook, Day One-Thousand-Two-Hundred-And-Seventy-Eight
I am happy to say that I started work on that new story today, and I feel good about how it is going so far. I have a strong sense of the entire story, which feels a bit odd to me, if I am honest. Most of the time, I am kind of discovering things as I go, but this story is based on a fairy tale, and so I have a stronger sense of what has to happen when. I think the story still has a lot of discovery in it for me, but it is not in terms of plot elements. It has to do with the narration, with the details of what is told and how it is revealed, and it is about the characters in the story. I am not entirely certain about the work I've done on the story so far, but I know that the important thing is getting a version of it on paper. Once I've got it down, I can look at what is or is not working. For the moment, I am going to just keep writing through the draft. If nothing else, it will allow for a completed version that I can look at and alter into what I want the story to be. I am hoping that I might get through the draft tomorrow during the day, but I have to see. I am still pretty exhausted and I know I have to be up on the early side.
