Poem: The Assignment

The Assignment

There must be a story
I can tell, I want to tell
and can tell,
that meets the criteria:
there must be,

but I do not know it,
have not found it,
not yet.  It must be there,
waiting, must be there.

I need to begin.
Maybe I must begin,
must start without knowing.
Maybe there is enough
in what you have asked,
maybe that is already a beginning.
