Poem: What We Have Left Out

What We Have Left Out

It is intended to be
symbolic, to represent
what is still
unfulfilled, what
is promised for tomorrow.
We have to do this
for memory, for
meaning.  It is
not an act for this
world, for the place
of balance sheets,
calculators, legal
pads, no, it is for
other reasons.  If
you do not understand,
it is an issue
within yourself,
not a need
for us to explain.
