Poem: I did not

I did not 

even if I meant to
and I did mean to,
or I thought
that I meant to
which is almost
but not quite
the same thing,
meaning it is,
in the end,
a different thing,
so not the same,
just like meaning to
or thinking you mean to
is not the same
as doing the thing.
