Poem: I was not

I was not

only everyone else
and what was needed
for each one,
each separate thing,
for them.  For each
of them.  Everyone
but for me.
That is the way
you do things,
I suppose.
It has been
that way
before this.
I don't know
what to say
or expect
or think.
It is nothing
I should
not expect
even if
it is not good,
is not acceptable,
If only
you would notice
or listen
or if I could act
to make it better
for myself.
