Poem: This Same Thing Again

This Same Thing Again

I am hoping
you will
be lenient
or forgiving,
but I know
you are hurt,
are upset
at me
doing these things,
doing it so often
and not learning
to be different
or better
or another person.
I shouldn't have done it
and my being sorry
is all I have
and is nothing,
is not enough.
I need to do better
and I can't say I will
when I have done it again.
Saying that means nothing.
It will only matter
if I make it different
and it never happens again.
