Poem: I would have

I would have

but there was a disruption,
the conditions
were not appropriate
and I had to wait.
I will admit
I had considered
not doing it.
I did not want to do it,
no part of me wanted to,
but I understood
it was what I should do,
what I needed to do,
would have to do,
even if not now,
still, it would be a thing
I had to do, so
I was going to,
but then
there was a noise,
a whole bunch of noise,
and I think I should wait.
It is not that I wouldn't do it:
there was a noise.
