Poem: It was foolish and selfish and I should have chosen to stay away

It was foolish and selfish and I should have chosen to stay away

I suppose that is true.
I don't know
if it really matters.
You are kind about it
but that is your way
and part of your duty,
I suppose, your job.
I am putting it on you
and it is not good.
I am reading things
and trying to find
what is right.
I made a mistake, though.
You will be kind
but I know
what would have been best.
I should have stayed away
but I was glad
to be back.
