Poem: I wish it had gone another way

I wish it had gone another way

but that is hard to explain
because it is not bad,
the way it went
is fine, I expect, even good,
and there won't be a problem,
but I had options
that were not exercised
and I didn't realize
until it was too late.
Things had changed
by that time.  It was
no longer the same.
If I had known
from the start
it would have been
very different,
or maybe it wouldn't
be different,
but I would feel
a different way about it.
