Poem: I will be hopeful for tomorrow

I will be hopeful for tomorrow

even if today and yesterday
were both disappointments
and I don't have any reason
to think it will be different.
There is nothing to be done,
no change I can make
to cause a different outcome.
I am simply caught
and waiting and hoping.
I could be less optimistic
but it seems harmless
to hope for the best,
until I get depressed
that it never comes.
