Poem: I must not lose track

I must not lose track

It is not certain
that it will remain
fresh and clear
inside my mind,
and the urgency,
the pressing desire
to follow through,
that can be lost,
is more often
lost than fulfilled.
I must be careful
to keep it in mind.
That is all I can do,
but it is enough.
