Poem: I said that

I said that

but did I mean it
or was it just easier
than any other answer?
Even I am not certain.
I want to think
I was being truthful,
that it is my intention
to do as I said I would.
But I still feel
the pull of desire,
or, rather, it is
an aversion,
an opposing desire,
a wish not to do
what I have promised
will be done.
