Poem: I had not expected it

I had not expected it

but I don't think it was intended
to be anything expected.  It was
not as if it was explained.
No one was prepared
or spoke of being ready.
It was not sudden,
I am sure of that,
but they must have feared
some kind of shift or panic
or just being too ready.
I don't know why
it was different,
if it really was different
and I am not thinking that
for reasons of perspective.
