A Writer's Notebook, One-Thousand-Eight-Hundred-And-Twenty-Seven
Maybe I should be moving away from writing about my flash fiction efforts each night, but I do feel like I am making progress which is worth contemplating. I spent a bunch of time trying to figure out what to write tonight and wound up with an idea that I think was pretty fun. Really, at the moment, my struggle is with finding concepts that I can shape into something in a short enough format. I know that, realistically, that is not so difficult. I have ideas for stories all the time, even if they aren't always meant to be flash pieces. In the end, I don't think that matters. There is probably a way to use almost any story idea as a piece of flash, or as an epic novel, it is just a matter of finding the right focus and approach. Obviously, a flash piece cannot convey the same things as a novel, that would be ridiculous, but a story can be told in many ways. There is not a reason why an idea that might be the source for a novel or other longer work couldn't be rendered in miniature instead.
