Poem: There Is No Argument You Can Give That Matters

There Is No Argument You Can Give That Matters

It will change nothing
even if you are right
and no one can deny it.
They do not believe
what they do
for the reasons they say,
they do not believe it
for any reasons.
The reasons all exist
as a result
what they want to be true.
They chose the belief
and the rest
is what it must be.
It may be
that is true
for all of us, too,
though I hope not,
but if we are to be honest
we must not deny that is possible,
which is a problem, too.
Our doubt is honest,
but it is still a vulnerability
with enemies like these.
