Poem: He Kept His Heart Silent

He Kept His Heart Silent

because it was the way,
was the only way
he knew.  He never said
he was hurting or alone
or let anyone know
what mattered most.
He did not like it,
wanted to be closer,
wanted tenderness.
He did not know how
or that he could.
It was not a way
he could be,
not a way he knew
could be his.
