Poem: I Do Not Know What It Will Be Or What I Will Need to Do

I Do Not Know What It Will Be Or What I Will Need to Do

I will do what is needed
to make it what the best of it,
to shape the outcome as I can,

but I do not know what is possible
or what it will mean.  I am uncertain,
even, that I will be in control.

That is what scares me, that knowing,
that awareness, that I may not get to choose,
that it may go in a direction I don't expect

and I might have no say.  I am trying
to keep calm, to be prepared.  I will do
what I can, if I get the chance I hope to.
