Poem: What Is Prepared

What Is Prepared

is not yet appropriate:
what is needed first
is another thing entirely,
and I am afraid
the rest won't keep
if we have to go through
and not around.
Through is slow,
has requirements
for what must be done,
but there is not another way.
No, that is not the truth,
it is just a matter of ritual
and not breaking the pattern.
That should not matter, maybe,
or it does matter
though it makes no sense.
I do not have answers
but I trust what has worked.
It may only be in the mind,
but the mind is a place
where I keep most important things.
