Poem: I Should Tell You

I Should Tell You

but I keep silent
because I don't think
it will be any good
if I say it.  It will
be hurtful, you will
tell me I am mean
and ask me
what I want you to do.
There is no good choice.
I don't have answers
for what to do.
Still, there must be
an understanding
between us,
there must be.
You tell me
you want it to be better,
want to accept
the consequences
of your misdeeds,
but you have run away
and done as you wish.
There are responsibilities
that require you
to follow the path
you laid before yourself.
If you don't accept that,
it is impossible
for us to heal
what is wrong
between us.
I am sorry to tell you.
I know you think
consequence
are for other people,
at least that is the way you act.
