Poem: The Appointment

The Appointment

I need to make certain
that she plans to come,
but I don't ask her,
each time I do not ask.
I forget to ask.  I don't want
to ask her and be told
that she forgot, that it is not
important enough
for her to remember,
that it is not happening.
I think, it is too late
to make it better
if it is not happening.
If it is happening
I will find out
when it is time.
If not, why know
any sooner?
Why would I want
to be hurt
any sooner?
