Poem: What Am I Waiting for?

What Am I Waiting for?

Do not ask me
for patience
or tell me
that it will come
one day, not unless
you can show evidence.
I will wait, will be clam
and stay quiet
if I am certain
it is not just waiting
and hoping.  I need
to know it is not
just being told
to wait again.
I have waited
for a long time
already.  Waiting is fine,
but I do not believe
I am actually waiting.
I think there is nothing.
I am being told I am waiting
so I won't complain,
so you can take what you wish
and give me nothing
and pretend it is for my benefit.
