Poem: The Damage

The Damage

I want to tell you
that I do not think
it can be fixed
and that it is not fine
for it to be broken,
and I want you to understand,
want you to realize
what I am saying.
I want you to take responsibility
for what you chose to do,
want you to realize it.
It is not getting better,
I want to tell you
that I do not think
it can be made better.
I want you to hear me,
to understand the problem,
to know what you have done.
I want you to hear me
when I tell you
I do not think it can be fixed,
that I cannot imagine a way
it could ever turn out well,
not after what has been done,
and I want you to hear me
and find a way
to rectify things,
to do what I believe is impossible.
You will tell me I am unreasonable,
but I am only asking
that you fix the damage done
by your own actions.
