Poem: The Set-Up

The Set-Up

You have laid a trap for yourself,
closed the door on resolution
by opening two paths
that both carry dissatisfaction.
Perhaps, you have an idea,
a way that will go beyond
what is within the boundaries
I think you have made yourself.
I could be limited, could know too little.
It will take time to find out,
but right now, I have my predictions
of the outcomes which are possible,
the kinds of outcomes that are possible.
It may be something else, yes.
I hope that is the case,
it would be so much better
than what I am imagining.
