Poem: I Do Feel Glad to Be Invited

I Do Feel Glad to Be Invited

to your meeting this week.
It is a change.  I have not felt
you wanted me around
or thought I could do anything
that might be of value.
It is a shift, this invitation.
I do not want to think too much of it.
I do not want to be optimistic at all,
not knowing my experiences,
but I feel positive, anyway.
It is the first time
in quite a while
I have felt that way,
and I want to hope
it is a shift
towards better.
I know a lot
is still not right,
but this is something.
I want to focus
on that, at least for now.
I am so often pessimistic,
but maybe it is okay,
for the moment,
to have a bit of hope
about what this means.
