Poem: I Am Thinking of Going Out

I Am Thinking of Going Out

I should just go to bed
but I am not certain
if that is what I will do
or if I will be foolish,
will be worse
than just foolish
and go out there
for what I don't need,
what I know
is not good for me
and is nothing
I require.  It is desire
pushing me, needling
for what is wanted.
I know better
but I am not certain
I have control
over the choice.
One moment I think I do,
but the want is still there,
over my shoulder.
I feel its needy breath.
