Poem: The Expectation

The Expectation

I do not know
what it will be,
or what is coming.
I know you
are expecting change
and I expect it, too.
We anticipate
the same outcomes,
but not in the same way.
I know you
will be glad.
It is clear
this is wanted.
I am not certain
what it will do
besides reduce me
even more.
It will be
one more way
I am not enough,
have not done
what is needed,
what is wanted,
what I would
if I were
that better man
who you thought
I would become.
