Poem: In Answer to Your Hypothetical Question

In Answer to Your Hypothetical Question

It is not enough information
for me to determine what is best,
is not enough at all.  I do not need to know
only what I am getting, but out of what,
out of how much in total?
It is not the amount alone,
it is the amount as a percentage,
and even if the rest is equal,
if things are the same in every way
except that one way,
it is not the same question
as if it is different
in other dimensions
to make these answers.
I don't know what to say
if you don't tell me more,
but I know
it is hypothetical,
is not meant to be more
than just a simple question
about what is valuable,
about what matters to me,
and I am telling you
what matters
are the specifics,
that is the thing
I care about
in this example.
