Poem: I Did Find It, Once

I Did Find It, Once

but where?  I don't
have it now, or know
where it is, but
it is out there,
it must still be
where it was before,
but where that is
I have forgotten
already.  I know
that I should
have been careful,
I should have been
but I was not.
and now
it is lost
and I am back
seeking it out.
I found it before.
It was waiting for me.
I wonder
if it is hiding,
if my lack of care
caused a change,
a response.
It may be
a lesson
from the universe.
