Poem: This Unwanted Hurt

This Unwanted Hurt

I want to not feel this,
but I do feel it
and it is not good:
harm was done,
you have done harm,
have harmed me,
have harmed us,
the thing we are together.
I feel that.  I do not want to.
I understand why you did this,
but you still did this, you chose
to give them what they want.
You should have understood.
I need to let this go.  I want to,
but they hate me and now
you have allowed them control,
have granted it to them, chose
to not protect me from this,
from the pain of being their puppet.
I am not safe if that is your choice.
I love you and want to stay in love.
I want it to be us.  It must be us.
I am so hurt.  I do not want to be,
but I am so hurt.
