Poem: The One Who Came to Help

The One Who Came to Help

She listened and heard
and said she understood,
said that it was reasonable,
that the problems told
we're real, deserved addressing,
that it would be right
to want it, to expect it,
that it would be proper,
would be the right thing,
what is needed and deserved.
Still, she could do nothing,
had no suggestions or thoughts.
She said she was here to help,
but only could listen and offer nothing.
There was not even advice.
The kindness, I am sure she felt it was there
in even listening.  I am certain
she thinks that was a good thing,
but it changed nothing
and proved again
that there is nothing that can be done.
If it was kindness, it was not
a kindness intended for my benefit.
